12th Conference Call for Paper

The 12th PHILOSOPHICAL ASSOCIATION OF NORTHERN LUZON (PANL), Regional Conference on October 24-25, 2015 to be held at Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU Function Hall, hosted by the Social Sciences Department), Batac City Ilocos Norte. With the theme Engaging Amianan Knowledge and Heritage Discourses,” the event will highlight PANL's reticent advances in its commitment to the creative formation of philosophical approaches for Amianan cultural self-understanding.

The concept on indigeneity and heritage is currently an interest focus of international forums on international relations, nationalism, culture, politics, education, tourism and business, etc. Such discourses presuppose some dominant paradigms that influence indigenous self-knowledge and heritage recognition in national and international scale. The notions on indigeneity and heritage usually come or shaped up by foreign and western worldviews. The conference aims to call into question such concerns and questions arising from this phenomenon by providing an avenue for critical engagement.

Specifically, the conference addresses the heightening exchanges on Amianan knowledge and heritage discourses as they impinge into the education of the young (e.g. political and cultural formation of consciousness of Amianan peoples) vis-à-vis the critical vocation of philosophic inquiry. Thus, it provide an avenue for interdisciplinary conversation among faculty, students, scholars and advocates for the best interest of integral formation of the young.
